Bonnie McKinlay, retired public schoolteacher/climate activist was the second of 1,252 arrested for civil resistance opposing the Tar Sands Keystone XL Pipeline.
Jane and Clayton, YEA Members (Youth Perspective on Climate Change) Offstage; interactive booths, activities and commitments to action 1:15pm: PARADE. Leave for the Planet Parade (moving beyond fossil fuels, walking to symbolize commitment to humanity, to the planet, and all life forms who need it's well-being for survival). Parade will head south through the Rose Quarter Commons, past the fountain, across Multnomah Street, through the transit center, up North on the sidewalk of Wheeler St. and back around to the Commons Onstage; Music. Offstage; interactive booths, activities, commitments to action 2:10-3pm: Information, Activities, Actions. Music, more activities, and actions to take at information booths
2:15-2:25pm: Break out session #1. Feed-in Tariffs, Stop Coal Exports, Tar Sands & TBA
2:30-2:40pm: Break out session #2. Weatherize for Good, Climate Justice Portland, Tar Sands & TBA
2:45-2:55pm: Breakout session #3. Health Effects of Climate Change in OR, OEC's Transportation Program, Tar Sands & TBA

We've put together a resource list for congregations and other groups who are interested in organizing alternative transportation in their communities. Example ideas include organizing a Take Alternative Transportation to Worship Day/Month or orchestrating a carpool system.
